TrendsSpotting Market Research is kicking off its predictions for 2010 with its report on social media — comprised of forecasts from everyone from Mashable founder Pete Cashmore to Craig Newmark, of Craigslist fame. The report, which offers a tip of the hat to Twitter with its 140-character-per-prediction slideshow format, offers a smattering of prognostications, but we were most intrigued by two that came up again and again throughout the slideshow: Businesses finally integrating social media and seeing an actual ROI, and a shrinking/customization of the online world.

Some businesses already have a social media policy but according to the Internet luminaries consulted for the report, we can expect a lot more engagement with online communities in the coming year. We already know that it’s feasible to make money off of services like Twitter — Dell did it — it remains to be seen how far companies will go when it comes to embracing the web to turn a profit. Some of the choicest quotes are below:

Shrinking the World Wide Web Into Communities

As the web becomes more expansive and all-encompassing, it’s only natural that we seek to contain it in some way, especially as mobile technology takes our real world interactions into the online world with such tools as Foursquare and other location-sharing devices (which Cashmore predicts will be spreading like proverbial wildfire this year).
The experts consulted on the report had some fascinating ideas regarding exclusivity that don’t seem all that far-fetched considering recent debates about privacy and the like. Check out some of the most intriguing conjectures below:

“Twitter will offer a premium level option that’ll allow the creation of hosted invite only discussions.”- Marc Meyer, principal, Digital Marketing Response Group
“The technology will begin to fade into the background so that people can focus on the relationships that are created because of the technologies, not the technologies themselves.”- Charlene Li, founder, Altimeter Group

Ford Motor Co.’s newest cars and trucks will have the ability to become mobile WiFi hotspots, another feature of the next-generation Sync system the automaker plans to unveil at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next month.

The company said drivers will be able to insert a USB mobile broadband modem, also known as an air card, into the system’s USB port to establish a secure wireless connection throughout the vehicle. Passengers with WiFi equipped mobile devices will then be able to access the Internet.

“While you’re driving to grandma’s house, your spouse can be finishing the holiday shopping and the kids can be chatting with friends and updating their Facebook profiles,” said Ford Americas President Mark Fields. “And you’re not paying for yet another mobile subscription or piece of hardware because Ford will let you use technology you already have.”

As The Detroit News first reported last week, the new version of Sync — the onboard infotainment and communications system it developed with Microsoft Corp. — also will allow drivers to control many of the applications on their smartphone or music player with voice commands.

Here is an e-mail that I received a few days ago from someone in my downline.  It is always encouraging to hear from other Dubli store owners that are making it happen. He is working very hard and will have the paycheck to show for it. He has been very coachable over the last few months and it is paying off.

It’s amazing when you put a little attention and time to something good…what happens.

A few weeks ago I signed a Gold, Michelle. Immediately she went to work and signed two brothers who, immediately went to work. They have to date put Pare’ and McCarron in front of 20 people and a bunch of them are signing up as I type. She has continued to put DubLi in front of the right people and more are signing up before Christmas. Michelle then bought shares of Dubli stock and made her Gold package license fee back from the stock profits alone. The stock jumped to an all time high this week.

A gentlemen from another network sent me samples of his nutrition product. Told him the packaging and product were ok but I wouldn’t touch it for DubLi’s is the easiest business to grow I have ever seen. He signs up Gold this weekend and is bringing 10 with him.

Shawn Eckert from WV and I this Monday are moving into an office on Monday to attack this business the same way McCarron, Pare’ and Cini did. Shawn should be Team Coordinator by Jan 1.

Tony and Peggy are just getting started and putting me in front of three or four people this week and as a team are going to rock this business…and they are just getting started!

Why am I telling you all of this…this is such an easy business, many people don’t do it at all. To become a Vice President it takes 5 Sales Directors in 5 different legs. They can be in any position in that leg. I will help 5 people this Spring become Sales Directors and I am going to work hard to make it happen. Jim McCarron and I are committed 100% to make this happen.

In March DubLi, goes global and everyone bids on the same website. The stock will soar in February once Wall Street opens the books…The credit will be worth more than a click in the months to come, more countries are opening this Spring and on and on. This is happening and I am so glad I am in on the front.
